Through the establishment of the network of excellence PHENOMICS the AUF meets the science council´s advice to “… establish a top priority in the field of animal production and an organizatial form …, that makes a high intensive co-operation with … the institute of biology for the agricultural livestock in Dummerstorf possible .”. By structural measures like the establishment of the “Center of Farm Animal PHENOMICS” the appointment of additional professorships in the field of livestock research at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Rostock University, the joint appointment of professorships by the FBN Dummerstorf and the FLI Riems for the field of livestock research and the part-renovation of the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Rostock University, the sustainable development of livestock research at the Faculty of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences at Rostock University is guaranteed.
Moreover the planning for the laboratory´s new construction for the Faculty of Livestock Science and Technology has been finished within the framework of the AUF´s part-renovation. For the realization of this building project 8.5 million Euros are available.
