Co-operative project 5 – Implementation of new phenotypes

Implementation of new phenotypes into practical livestock breeding and animal husbandry

CP coordinator: Prof. Georg Thaller, CAU Kiel

Aims:

  • Development of modells for genomic breed estimation including biosignatures as additional new information,
  • Construction of a platform for the use of new developed biosignatures and development of selections and mate selection strategies in breeding programmes,
  • Development of decisional systems to estimate species-appropriation based on  multiple criterions including appropriate biosignatures,
  • Validation of innovative estimating systems based on profiles of biosignatures to optimise husbandry
    processes in cattle and pigs.

Sub-projects

Sub-project 5.1: Development of modified “genomic selection” modells
Project leader: Prof. Georg Thaller, CAU Kiel

Sub-project 5.2: Construction of a marker supported selection platform
Project leader: Friedrich Reinhardt, vit Verden

Sub-project 5.3: Process of optimal mate selection to use SNP-based estimations of  non-additive gene effects
Project leader: Prof. Norbert Reinsch, FBN Dummerstorf

Sub-project 5.4: Development of a multidimensional estimation system for animal justice with the help of the Multi-Criteria-Analyses (MCA)
Project leader: Prof. Joachim Krieter, CAU Kiel

Sub-project 5.5: Validation of the developed Multi-Criteria-Analyse-system to optimise species-appropriate husbandry systems
Project leader: Prof. Elmar Mohr, University Rostock
Project partner: Prof. Annette Zeyner, University Rostock
