Co-operative project 4 – Validation of new phenotypes

Specification, qualification and validation of new phenotypes – “Biosignatures” of performance, health and welfare

CP coordinator: Prof. Klaus Wimmers, University Rostock / FBN Dummerstorf

Aims:

  • Validation of minimal-invasive biosignatures for characteristics in performance, behaviour and health in animals of commercial droves from cattle and pigs,
  • Estimation of genetic parameters for biomarkers and characteristics of breed and analyses of characteristic association,
  • Validation of gracilization of biosignatures with a displacement of animal organisms through influences in
    feeding and infections,
  • Development or modification of modells for genotype-phenotype-depiction

Sub-projects

Sub-project 4.1: Specification, qualification and validation of predictive parameters for value of money, health and welfare in pigs
Project leader: Prof. Klaus Wimmers, University Rostock / FBN Dummerstorf

Sub-project 4.2: Specification, qualification and validation of predictive biosignatures for milk yield and functional behavioural characteristics in cattle
Project leader: Prof. Manfred Schwerin, University Rostock / FBN Dummerstorf

Sub-project 4.3: Characteristic association of biomarkers in diverse cattle and pig breeds in different processes of production
Project leader: Prof. Karl Schellander, University Bonn

Sub-project 4.4: Characteristic association of biomarkers at diverse influences of feeding
Project leader: Prof. Annette Zeyner, University Rostock

Sub-project 4.5: Gracilization and characteristic association of biomarkers under circumstances of pathogen infection
Project leader: Prof. Thomas C. Mettenleiter, FLI Riems
