Co-operative project 3 – Integration of “OMICS”–levels

The molecular phenotypes - Integration of “OMICS”–levels in cattle and pigs

CP coordinator: Prof. Eckhard Wolf, Gene Centre LMU Munich

Aims:

  • Establishing an integrated technology platform for the molecular phenotyping of relevant target tissue in cattle and pig,
  • Development of new molecular phenotypes for diverse characteristic complexes (reproductive performance,
metabolism, meat and milk yield, behaviour, disease resistance),
  • Charaterisation of the differentially expression of these phenotypes in diverse animal population,
  • Identification of relevant molecular networks for the relative characteristic complexes and derivative of
biosignatures for the genotype-phenotype-depiction (in co-operation with CP1).

Sub-projects

Sub-project 3.1: Integrative “OMICS”-profiles for the definition of new phenotypes with relevance for the characteristic complexes metabolism and reproductive performance in cattle and pigs
Project leader: Prof. Eckhard Wolf, Gene Centre LMU Munich

Sub-project 3.2:
Integrative “OMICS”-profiles of chosen relevant tissue of cattle with different characteristics in milk yield and behaviour
Project leader: Prof. Manfred Schwerin, University Rostock / FBN Dummerstorf

Sub-project 3.3:
Integrative “OMICS”-profiles of chosen relevant tissue of pig with different outputs of growth and constitution of meat
Project leader: Prof. Karl Schellander, RFW University Bonn

Sub-project 3.4: “OMICS”-profiles to derivate new selection criterions to reduce aggression and improve animal health in pigs
Project leader: Prof. Klaus Wimmers, University Rostock / FBN Dummerstorf

Sub-project 3.5: The “OMICS”-processes in medical diagnostics in cattle and pigs
Project leader: Prof. Thomas C. Mettenleiter, FLI Insel Riems
