The „International Leibniz Graduate School on Functional Diversity in Farm Animals 2010 - 2013“ (ILGS DivA) is supposed to combine projects of physiology, genetics, animal health and behaviour in a system orientated attempt and accomplish an approach to a broad comprehension of basic processes in characteristics of achievement, animal behaviour and the product quality. The participants are to be qualified to develop and implement future breeding programmes and husbandry systems. Therefore established responsibilities from the Leibnitz-Institute for livestock biology (FBN Dummerstorf) are brought together with excellent co-operation partners of the Universities of Rostock and Kiel. Unique informative animal modells combined with an excellent scientific infrastructure, as well as the professional embedding with both of the key issues „Genetics and Physiology of Adaptation and Performance“ and „Interrelationship between Performance, Health and Welfare“ in the network of excellence form the basis for an extra unique education opportunity for young livestock scientists.
